April Goode
Children’s Ministry Director
April Durham Goode serves as the Children’s Ministry Director at Northside Baptist Church, bringing together her love for children, extensive educational experience, and passion for helping young lives grow in their faith. A two-time graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, April earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Elementary Education. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, along with experience managing a daycare, she understands both the educational and personal needs of children and their families. At Northside, April helps lead Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, special children’s programs, and family events designed to provide children with a safe, welcoming place to learn about Jesus, build friendships, and experience God’s love.
April and Pastor Steve Goode have been married since June 4, 1994, and are the proud parents of Noah and Savannah. Her experiences as an educator, ministry leader, wife, and mother have given her a compassionate and practical understanding of the joys and challenges families face. Whether she is teaching a Bible lesson, organizing a children’s event, encouraging a parent, or caring for a child who needs a little extra attention, April serves with patience, creativity, and a genuine Christian love. Her desire is not simply to teach children Bible stories, but to help every child feel seen, valued, safe, and loved while building a foundation of faith that can last a lifetime.
