Obituary for Dolly Sue Haley
Dolly Sue Haley, 62, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away on July 16, 2026. She was born on December 10, 1963.
Dolly will be remembered for her determination, her love for her family, and her ability to find something for which to be thankful even during difficult days. Although ongoing health challenges often limited her ability to get around, Dolly tried to make the most of wherever she was. She viewed each new day as a blessing and found happiness in the people and simple pleasures she loved.
The greatest priority of Dolly’s life was her daughter, Becky Haley. After becoming a single mother, Dolly cared deeply for Becky and centered much of her life around loving, encouraging, and supporting her. The bond they shared was precious to Dolly.
Dolly made her home with her sister, Billie Farlow, who faithfully cared for her and attended to her needs throughout her years of declining health. Their relationship reflected the devotion and love that can only be found within a close family.
She also treasured the time she was able to spend with her nieces and nephews. They brought tremendous joy to her life, and she loved staying connected with them whenever possible. Her nephew Stephen was among those who remained close to her and was present with her during her final days at Cone Hospital.
Dolly enjoyed the color purple, beautiful roses, and a good ribeye steak. She also loved playing Bubble Witch on Facebook. Pastor Steve often received messages from Dolly through the game as she continued advancing through the levels and “crushing it.” These little moments reflected her playful personality and her determination to enjoy life despite her circumstances.
When her health permitted, Dolly attended Northside Baptist Church. In years past, she also came to help with the church’s homeless breakfast ministry, where meals were prepared and distributed to people throughout the Greensboro community. Although her health prevented her from participating recently, her willingness to serve remained a meaningful part of her connection to the church.
Dolly is survived by her beloved daughter, Becky Haley; her sisters, Ruby Foster and Billie Farlow; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her brother, J.C. Foster, and her sister, Debbie Holbrook.
Psalm 23 was especially meaningful to Dolly and will be read during her service. The songs “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “Dancing in the Sky” have also been selected in remembrance of her life.
A service celebrating Dolly’s life will be officiated by Pastor Steve Goode. Services have been entrusted to Central Carolina Cremations.
Dolly’s health may have limited where she could go, but it never diminished the love she had for her daughter and family. She will be remembered with affection, gratitude, and the comforting words of Psalm 23:
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
